Neuware -Multinodular goiters constitute an endemic goiter condition in the northern part of the wilaya of Sétif (eastern Algeria). Plunging goiters are a distinct subtype of goiter. They present diagnostic and surgical challenges. The aim of this study is to clarify the diagnostic and management approaches for plunging goiters, including an analysis of surgical outcomes. A retrospective study conducted from January 2, 2017, to June 30, 2023, involving 104 cases of plunging goiters operated on in the General Surgery Department at the Setif University Hospital. Female patients were in the majority. An anterior cervical mass was the reason for presentation. Signs of compression were present. The infiltrating nature of the goiter was confirmed by imaging. CT scanning was the key diagnostic test. Total thyroidectomy via cervicotomy was the standard treatment. Sternotomy is indicated when it is impossible to reduce the extension of the goiter. Surgical difficulties were observed. Morbidity is identical to that of any thyroid surgery and carries a significant risk. 72 pp. Englisch.…

Estudo retrospetivo realizado entre 2 de janeiro de 2017 e 30 de junho de 2023, abrangendo 104 casos de bócios submersos operados no serviço de cirurgia geral do CHU de Sétif. Predominou o sexo feminino. A protuberância cervical anterior constituiu o motivo da consulta. Foram observados sinais de compressão. O caráter submerso foi confirmado por exames de imagem. A tomografia computadorizada é o exame fundamental para o diagnóstico. A tireoidectomia total por cervicotomia constituiu o tratamento de referência. La TAC è l'esame fondamentale per la diagnosi. La tiroidectomia totale mediante cervicotomia è stata il trattamento di riferimento.
