Aggiungi al carrelloHardcover. Condizione: Very Good. Octavo. Half bound in contemporary brown morocco over lichen cloth. Gilt tooling to front and spine, title to spine in gilt. Spine ends a little bumped, as is the front top corner. Top edge gilt, others untrimmed. Internally bright, fresh and clean. Mademoiselle de Mustelle and her friends: Perv…erse novel about an elegant and vicious little girl. One of novellist and critic Pierre Mac Orlan's forays into pornography, under one of his many pseudonyms. The first edition appears to have been published in 1912, though was quickly suppressed on moral ground. This edition quickly followed though appears to have been limited; As late as 1928 the gendarme were searching Mac Orlan's home to prevent the publication of a further designer edition. Perhaps most famous for his novel Quai des Brumes, adapted into the seminal noir film of the same name in 1938, Mac Orlan began his career writing a number of popular chansons which were widely recorded and popularised by some of the most well known French singers of the era. While new translations of his more socially acceptable works are still being produced as recently as 2017, his pornography, with themes of sadomasochism, flagellation, and dominatrices, remains less in the public eye. Scarce.
