Nous nous sommes efforcés de lier notre exposé à l'étude de la langue française, l'exemple du latin servant à éclairer des notions de grammaire française et des « faits linguistiques » qui demeurent inexpliqués à l'intérieur de notre langue. Le vocabulaire fondé sur la fréquence des mots latins, ne fournit que des mots utiles ceux qui reviennent constamment dans les uvres de César et Cicéron.
