Médecin personnel de l'impératrice Marie-Thérèse, Anton von Störck (1731-1803) est célèbre pour ses études de pharmacognosie sur les plantes toxiques (ciguë, colchique, datura etc.). Il est fameux pour avoir mené sur l'animal mais aussi sur lui-même des expériences testant la limite entre les doses thérapeutiques, toxiques et létales.
