About the author: François Joseph Chabas (1817-1882) was a French Egyptologist who came from a modest background, studied at Chalon and became a wine merchant. Self-taught, Chabas learned Latin, Greek and other languages. Interested in anthropology, he turned to study Old Egyptian languages. Chabas was a member of several learned societies and later president of the Conseil departemental of Saône-et-Loire. Between 1876 and 1880, he edited the journal "L'Égyptologie." His works have contributed much to elucidate the history of the invasion and repulsion of the Hyksos in Egypt. Chabas was elected a foreign member of the Royal Netherlands Academy of Arts and Sciences in 1865. (From Wikipedia).

La chemise du premier tome a le premier plat détaché, de l'usure considérable au charnières des rabats de papier et l'un d'eux est détaché. La seconde chemise se tient encore mais est fragilisée à la charnière du premier plat et les rabats de papier sont en partie détachés. Chaque contre-plat présente un ex-libris de bibliothèque, et on trouvera une pochette de papier sur un des rabats de chaque chemise. Les livrets sont en excellent état sans rien à mentionner autre qu'un discret cachet de bibliothèque à la marge inférieure de la dernière page. Les 30 planches sont en excellent état aussi avec seulement le même discret cachet de bibliothèque à l'endos de chaque planche.
