Exlibris forrest i bøgerne giver initialerne J.S. [billedhuggeren og professor i anatomi Johan Theobald Stein (1829-1901)], som sandsynligvis er modtageren af Kriegers breve, mens pastor Stein kan have været hans broder Harald Stein (1840-1900).
