Wellman's 1938 war film for young readers, with stills from the Paramount picture throughout. The film was one of the first Hollywood productions to utilize the Technicolor three-strip camera process, and the dogfight scenes were an impressive example of movie production at the time. Wellman was already well known as the director of Wings (1927), the first motion picture to win an Academy Award for Best Picture.

Overall, this book is in poor condition. This book has been well-read. Spine and pages are loose, but all 235 are present. A former owner?s signature appears faintly on the slightly water-stained inside front cover. There are occasional other water stains. Otherwise, no marks were found. There are many captioned photos of Jackie Cooper as a young boy on and off the set scattered throughout the book. Inside front cover has a faint signature of the original 1933 owner, adds no value.
