Revised script for the 1964 play. "The Passion of Josef D." opened at the Ethel Barrymore Theatre on February 11, 1964 and closed on February 22, 1964, after a total of only 15 performances. Of note as Chayefsky's least successful play, focusing on the life of Joseph Stalin (played in the production by Peter Falk) from the beginning of the Russian Revolution in 1917 until Lenin's stroke in 1924.
