Paperback. Condizione: new. Paperback. Tracy is hired to prove a girl didn't commit suicide. She is officially listed Suicide, OD on drugs and alcohol. The death was seven months in the past. She goes to the SFPD and sees her friend Greg. [Sgt Gregory Phillips, SFPD] When Tracy first sees the crime scene photos, she is immediately convinced the death was something other that a suicide, even though there was a note. When Greg asks her to explain, she tosses a picture in front of him. "She's buck naked", Tracy says. "She went to the trouble to clean her house, even though the house keeper was coming in the next day. Why would she clean everything and turn around and leave her body exposed for /Volumes/pahl/Desktop/3M Descr.txtthe world . and the cretin who shot a little too many crotch shots to see?" She drives to the victim's apartment, and is a bit shell-shocked to see that it is a luxury condo, rent beginning about three grand. No way she can afford this. Using a ruse, she gains entry into a model unit that appears to be like Gail's. It is quite a Playboy's kept girlfriend's set up. On a whim, Tracy drives to the M.E.'s office to see what if anything they might have on Gail's suicide. There appears to be nothing earth-shattering about the autopsy, but when she stands to leave, the M.E. she has been talking to asks her if she would like to meet for a drink after five. She says yes. The drink escalates into a rapid dinner downtown, where the relationship between Brad Springer, M.E., and her begins. The next morning Tracy drives to the bank where Gail worked. In a humorous bit, starting with the walk from the parking lot. When she gets to the money pit, she battles her way to Faraday's supervisor. EXCERPT: "Go back to the end here," The woman pointed to what used to be an aisle between desks, but was now a trading floor, "See an old guy named Olson. He's the boss." I said my thanks and fought through some very rude people who had no respect whatsoever for small people. I was elbowed and shoved in places on my body I hold in strict privacy. Finally my umbrella came out, and even though it was folded, and the tip a rounded half inch ball, it became a formidable weapon to be used, quarter-staff style, for poking my way though. Thoughts of slamming it across some fat heads crossed my mind. If I could reach that high. Finally, I got the attention of those who blocked my path while haranguing about a paltry fifty or a hundred, even five hundred million dollars. When I finally broke free of the shouting masses, not one floor trader knew I had passed between them. Or had clobbered them with my bent-up bumbershoot. In the back was a small secretarial desk, with a man sitting at it, and a glassed in cubicle. "Help you Miss?" He said while punching buttons on a modern telephone keyboard. My nostrils were flared and I'm sure I was breathing fire. "I want to see Gail Faraday's supervisor. now!" I panted angrily. My temper was well over critical mass. "I want to talk to the keeper of these animals, I don't want to have a seat, I don't want to be routed to someone else!" "First time up here, hah?" He chuckled. The next morning, the paper has an article about a girl named Cassie Potter, who committed suicide in her luxury condo. She quickly realizes this is the same pattern as Gail. She goes to the M.E. office and converses with Brad's secretary, who suggests a search for more girls. Tracy finds a third girl, Susan Kennedy, who died two years ago. She goes to Greg with her findings. He finally realizes she is right, there is a serial killer. Under orders from Captain Anderson, Greg takes over the investigation, and tells Tracy to butt out. Tracy gets a key lead, and follows up on it with an old camera nut and a street artist. She finds and identifies the killer at the same time Greg arrests the Playboy. Tracy complains and tells Greg "You don't want to arrest Shipping may be from our UK warehouse or from our Australian or US warehouses, depending on stock availability.…

Paperback. Condizione: new. Paperback. Tracy [A former top-of-the-line escort in San Francisco] is relaxing on a Saturday morning with sailing friends. As she is bantering with a fellow competitor, her on-again off-again boyfriend, Lieutenant Gregory Phillips, comes into the yacht club. Tracy greets him and he asks if he can call in a favor. They step into her office (The upper deck outdoors). Because there might be a serial killer on the loose, he has been ordered to ask Tracy if she can get an undercover Vice cop into the Eden Connection as an S&M girl. The biggest rub is that the vice cop who is going undercover is Tracy's most heated frenemy and rival for Greg's attention, Vice Sergeant Terry Frankfurter, AKA Hot Dog. Tracy is between a rock and a hard place. Nora reluctantly agrees. Tracy picks up Frankfurter and as they drive to the condo, Hot Dog admits that if she has to go all the way with a customer, she will. In the condo, during Hot Dog's makeover, Tracy notices that Frankfurter has lost some weight. There is an imperceptible sallowness about her. On Hot Dog's first out-call, once she determines the client isn't the slasher, she goes all the way. There is nothing her back-up can do about it. A week later, on a Sunday morning, Frankfurter was killed by the slasher, right under her back-up's nose. Tracy is pissed. She confronts Phillips with the question, "Who's stupid idea was this anyway? Seems to me the operation was bungled from the get-go." A task force is formed. Tracy is asked to join the task force as an expert adviser. Tracy and Phillips work together, but Tracy isn't going to allow any relationship to change. Another escort is murdered. Days later another girl is killed. As they work through all the kill details, Tracy sees something that is escaping the others. After some questions, she points out of the five girls, three are overlays, and two others are overlays, but the two groups are close, but not identical. Des this indicate two killers? Tracy drives to Los Banos, a farming community and talks to Frankfurter's parents, then her doctor, who turns out to be an oncologist. Terry had terminal brain cancer. The task force splits up. Tracy opts to work with Wormy so she can learn from a different teacher. Their group is tasked with the copy cat. They question the father (a state representative) of one of the girls. He denies that his daughter was a working girl. After an interview with a guidance counselor at San Jose State College, Tracy gets an identity on the copy cat. A man wanted his ex girlfriend dead, and killed a call girl simply to make up a matching homicide. Tracy and Phillips figure out some key evidence left behind the latest body dump, and are able to mentally jump ahead of the slasher. Lying in wait for the slasher to show, they renew their relationship. After a car chase on Highway One, which ends in Greg's car being up-side down in a sand dune, Tracy is assigned a seat in the front of a CHP car and instructed to stay there. In the foggy night, the slasher manages evade the manhunt and smash out the window of Tracy's police car. He forces Tracy to the driver's seat. He shoves a CHP helmet over her head and tells her to "drive". They are able to leave the premises without being stopped in the fog. He makes her drive somewhat aimlessly in the west area of San Francisco, then orders her stop in Golden Gate park. She knows what is coming next. Tracy manages to survive the attack, and later, in the front seat of the CHP car, he's beginning to get ready for another attack. She's had it. She stomps on the gas, driving like a wild woman to the Golden Gate. She plans to "take his half of the car off at a zillion miles an hour." She wakes up in the hospital, with broken bones and a crooked smile. When she leaves, it is with Greg at her side, Lee driving and a few new dark secrets in her brain's recesses. Paperback. Condizione: new. Paperback. Tracy Cunningham is vacationing on her sailboat in the San Joaquin Delta, exploring the back waters and sloughs with her fiancee. Quite by accident, her father (Chief of Detectives. LAPD) manages to get a message through. She is to call him. He asks Tracy to try to find an adult child of a friend of his. She is described as an overweight, acne-scarred, unkempt flower-child type frump with severe B.O. The girl is 21, a graduate chemical engineer who has committed no crime, and may not want to be found. Nevertheless, Tracy agrees and begins the search in the Bus Station in San Jose, trying to find a driver who may have brought the woman here. It will take forty-eight hours of arriving drivers to insure she sees them all. The trail then leads her to the central valley town of Stockton, and to a certain law firm. Knowing the missing woman is connected with the firm, Tracy begins a stake-out from within. She applies for and gets a job on the front desk. The first day, she is asked to take a package to Lodi, fifteen miles away. She decides not to open the transmittal envelope, as she is sure the package is marked and sealed. She returns to Stockton, more and more aware of the situation she's finding herself in. She's sure there are drugs involved, a network of distributor-dealers. Wisely, she decides that a single, small, female P.I. verses a established drug smuggling ring isn't fair odds, so she abruptly quits the law offices, and lays back to watch the front doors. After work hours are over, Tracy follows a woman she has named Beautiful Bod. They go to the Marina in the Northwest part of town, where she and an apparent boyfriend leave in a small runabout. The next day, she sees her target walking towards the front door. Tracy pulls alongside and stops her. The girl agrees to go with Tracy to a coffee shop and call off her DEA father. Tracy will be out of her life soon as that is done. Instead, the girl uses the old bathroom gambit, and climbs out the window. Tracy is in her car, waiting for her to emerge from the alley. She does, and gets into an old van. The van heads straight our of town, with Tracy following as far back as she can. When in the foothills, she momentarily looses sight of the van. It reappears immediately, and then, inexplicably flies off the road and into a valley, turning over in a somersault, with three explosions occurring when the vehicle impacts. Tracy arrives at the scene, and small fires are already forming all over the hillside. The van is in a thousand chunks, and is totally unidentifiable as a vehicle. Figuring the case has come to a dead end, Tracy heads back to Sausalito, where she is sharing a house with Brad Springer, M.E. After a night of love-making, Brad nervously tells Tracy that he has found another love. Tracy is crushed of course. But considering her past, she wasn't completely naive about this possibility occurring. She takes a Delta sabbatical to get over the incredible hurt. While moored in a tiny lagoon hidden along False River, she shouts invectives to the summer winds. She breaks down in tears. She swims. She drinks. After a few days, she comes out of it. Tracy is surreptitiously visited in the dead of night by two armed men in an outboard powered boat. The men leave and an hour later, the black stealth go-fast boat she has been tracking comes roaring through False River, but never stops. The outboard skiff re-appears, and the men find a bleach bottle. Following a line attached to it, they eventually man-handle a large, heavy cylinder aboard, and leave quickly. Tracy has been watching the activities from the tules and reeds on the shoreline of the river. She formulates a plan. In the conclusion, Tracy is deputized into the DEA, and given the title of "Bait". She is validated in her own mind, because she wins a one-on-one battle with the drug queen. Paperback. Condizione: new. Paperback. Tracy and her crew are racing her partner, Lee Brooks, and she has brought her father along. It is the first time he has ever ridden with her on a sailboat. Tracy is in her element aboard a sailboat, especially if it is hers. She becomes saltier, more demanding, and tougher then she ever is ashore. Once the race is over, the friendly bantering begins, with her father getting an earful about his Captain Bligh daughter. This continues until they are on the dock. There is a hubbub, a growing din of many chattering people moving towards them. A very famous western singer is in the center of the mob. As they draw closer, the singer's roadie frees her from the crowd, and with the aid of some security people, manages to get the mob, including the Paparazzi back off the dock. Shelly Summers, the singer, hails Tracy by name, then hugs Tracy's Father. Shelly has been Tracy's bff since their Sophomore year at RFK High School in Santa Monica. She has flown to the Bay Area specifically to see Tracy. Shelly is being blackmailed. She recently was an inpatient at the exclusive Cygnet Program, a twenty-one day substance abuse hospital and campus in Southern California. Tracy enters the program a couple of days later, going undercover by being committed to the detox ward by her pseudo husband, a local PI. She has gotten herself intentionally drunk for the occasion. While in Detox, she discovers a fourteen year old girl, who is completely messed up with drugs. The girl can't seem to get rid of the stupor she came into Detox with. One minute she's getting better, the next she has "fallen" back into her hole. Once Tracy has emerged from Detox, she agrees to take part in the program, figuring she would only be there long enough to find the blackmailer. She is also getting suspicious about the girl's condition, and something happens that confirms that the girl isn't getting the same detoxing that Tracy had. Tracy manages to steal the hypo that was used on the girl and has her ersatz husband get it checked immediately. The tox lab results come back via Lloyd the next day, and show a high degree of sedatives and a small amount of cocaine in the tube. Tracy presents her findings to the resident doctor, demanding to know why the teen is being kept sedated. The sedation is a complete shock to the MD, as he nor anyone else ordered anything for the girl except Narcan in the beginning and Vitamin B shots thereafter. The girl is ordered released from Detox STAT, and assigned to Tracy's room. Tracy is hired to be her bodyguard. The blackmailer's body is discovered in the game room at 2:00 AM. Tracy: "I came into the program as an undercover job, to simply find and identify a blackmailer. Something that should be an ordinary-enough case for a P.I. Since that time, I've been hired by the owners of the Cygnet Program to be Mallory's bodyguard and to find out who ordered her kept sedated. I'm now trying to solve the murder of the blackmailer just for something to do. To top the whole frigging mess off, I've discovered that I myself, am a latent alcoholic." Chief Cunningham and Greg Phillips back up Tracy in the program. Mallory joins the group. Tracy sends Lloyd to find a connection between the nurse who sedated Mallory and Mallory's sister. One is made. Through her logic, expressing disbelief that a homicide occurs at the same time as attempted murder, and major-league extortion going on for months in a population of twenty five people, Tracy makes a connection between the nurse and the blackmailer and Mallory's sister. When Tracy leaves the program, Mallory is riding alongside, as Tracy has agreed to become the teen's Guardian. The plotting and planning that her sister tried backfires completely, and Tracy and Greg become engaged to be married Shipping may be from our UK warehouse or from our Australian or US warehouses, depending on stock availability.…

Paperback. Condizione: new. Paperback. Tracy is hosting a dockside party for the launching of her sailboat, the Strumpet. During some repartee with Lee brooks, her boss, a man garishly clad in a yellow aloha shirt asks her if he can talk to her about his missing family; it's a life and death emergency. His wife and daughters are missing from their summer cabin in Incline Village, NV. Tracy agrees to meet him at Lake Tahoe in the morning. She is at the appointed place and time, but her client is a no-show. After a half-hour or so, she begins to wander around the cabin. The hairs on her neck and arms begin to prickle. Wisely, she calls a new friend at the local police station. Together, they enter the cabin, citing Exigent Circumstances and discover her client in the kitchen, on the floor with a big butcher knife in his belly. While Donovan is out getting the crime scene people in site, Tracy takes many photos with her cellphone and immediately sends them to her website. Captain Landis, the man in charge, takes an immediate dislike to Tracy, which she willfully reciprocates. He orders her out of the scene, but stay in town. She has a room booked at one of the larger hotels on the north end, She drops her car in valet service and goes to her room. Soon Landis and Donovan knock on her room door and begin to question her. Landis demands her photos. She hands over the media card. Down on the beach, she starts to question the teens about seeing the Cox girls. She finds the girls and their mother were taken off the beach by a man wearing a gray suit, sporting a pencil moustache and driving a 30' speedboat. Tracy convinces Donovan to get a young police artist to talk to the kids and get a sketch of Grey-suit. With her friend Shelly Summers, up and coming western singer, they manage to get the trust of the teens and gather a lot of anecdotal information. Tracy immediately takes a photo of the sketch. Later, while waiting for Donovan to meet her for a dinner date, she gets a call from him. He's in the lobby. When she gets there, he is still in uniform. "Tracy," he asks, "Where is your car?" "In the Valet parking lot." "No it's not. It's in a gas station, with a girl shot through her head laying beside it." Everyone knows Tracy had nothing to do with the murder, but they're also convinced the girl was shot because of mistaken identity. Tracy is driven to her car, and escorted to the state line with the suggestion that she not return. When she gets home, Greg tells her to get out of the case, it's too dangerous. She breaks up with him. Lee gives her the same ultimatum. She quits the firm. So many people have come down on her she hatches a plan. She's going to have a fatal traffic accident up the coast. After "driving off" a fifty foot cliff, she changes clothes in the brush and emerges as one of her alter-egos, Kelly McAllister. She hitches a ride to San Francisco, where she purchases a used corvette. Back at Lake Tahoe, she tracks the Cox women to a blue custom Van. Finding out only four blue Dodge Vans were sold by the custom shop, she heads for L.A. Process of elimination finds Tracy staking out a villa in the Pacific Palisades. While watching for the blue van, she is captured by the people she was tracking. Turns out she was staking out Michael Scaramella's home, he of the mob. Tracy converts Scaramella to a friend. She also calls her father to tell him she's not as dead as everyone thinks she is. With the help of a Chief of Detectives and a Mafia Boss, she determines that the Cox Family is undoubtedly being hidden by the US Marshals. She heads north to figure who killed Bonnie. That part of the case takes her to Incline Village, Stockton CA, and Reno. There she sets up a meet with Donovan to give him the identity of the killer. Instead of finding Donovan, she is arrested by Captain Landis for cop-killing and taken to a remote Nevada desert substation of Shipping may be from our UK warehouse or from our Australian or US warehouses, depending on stock availability. Paperback. Condizione: new. Paperback. Its a blue collar world is a compilation of cartoons I created over the years. I am a known punster and have drawn up some great groaners. FYI, puns are rated in terms like groaners, horrible, horrific, awful, sick, "oh boo", etc. The worst the adjective, the better the pun. In the last section, where we have placed most of our puns, we have removed as many pun(ch)-lines as we could, so that you can try to figure them out. Some are easy and some are rather esoteric. If you are the kind who gives up early, we have a link to a hint page. If you still need some help we'll provide a link to go to the answer page. Share this with your friends. Enjoy.
