Mild crushing to spine ends. Book has a slight forward lean. Board corners are bumped, with some loss to cloth. Boards are bowed.

Hardcover. Condizione: Very Good. 1st Edition. A lovely copy of this scarce and interesting title. This copy is the first edition letterpress (the title page being dated L.DCC.LXXXVI with II added in ink) with plates dated 1788 (we do not know if there were plates dated 1786). The title page states the price as 16 shillings in s…heets instead of 16s bound. Recently rebound in period style with half leather and marbled boards, new endpapers, gilt tooled title piece. Pages are [2], 14, and include title page, table of contents, descriptions of the plates, and estimate of prices. Most plates are in lovely fresh condition, water stain to bottom right corner creeping in from plate 36 and narrow ink stain at bottom edge about the same place, but even plate 42 is not bad (see image). The ink stain at the bottom is also present in the letterpress but otherwise pages are clean. This title is one of a number of patterns books published by William Pain from 1758 onwards. This title was reissued a few times by I & J Taylor. Rare in any edition.
