Hardcover. Condizione: Very Good. No Jacket. 1st Edition. Our author here, Major Frederick Palmer was an experienced American war correspondent even before the Great War began. According to Wikipedia (with my thanks and occasional contribution): "General John Pershing persuaded him to take on the task of press accreditation for the American Expeditionary Force (AEF). In this period, he was accorded the rank of Colonel. He subsequently became the first war correspondent to win the U.S. Army's Distinquished Service Medal." Please see the photo of the Table of Contents for your information. The book is without illustrations. Condition: This book is in very good condition. The red hard covers are dust-dulled and ligthly soiled but nothing extreme. The corners and spine tips are lightly bumped and the spine is bit faded and the once gilt titles there tarnished but still legible. Inside, the news is much better as the book is unmarked and the pages are clean and bright throughout, without toning or foxing. The top edge of the pages is darkened and dirty but without affecting what's inside. Both hinges are intact and the binding is tight and sound. This book is not ex-library or a remainder.
