This first collected edition of all the poems in Robert Duncan's series The Structure of Rime-a sequence of 45 poems discussing and demonstrating Duncan's poetics, most originally published in magazines as they were written and several never before published-comes letterpress printed on German mouldmade Zerkall Book Laid paper, bound in Japanese cloth inset with two prints, etchings with aquatint, by Frank Lobdell. This edition is limited to 275 numbered and 26 lettered copies, this being number 35, with each copy illustrated in three abstract etchings by California artist Frank Lobdell, who knew the author, as well as two photographic portraits of Duncan, two of the etchings inset into windows on the bindings and an accompanying print in separate folder, also an etching with aquatint by Lobdell, printed by David Kelso at made in California, and signed and numbered by Lobdell. These separate prints derive from forty small etchings with aquatint produced by Lobdell between 1987 and 2000. The editions are mainly 20, a few are 35, and one is 50, plus artist's proofs and printer's proofs. The print accompanying this copy is the sole ATP or artist's test proof in its edition of 25, with black ink inverse to other prints on the market, hand-dated 6.14.93 on paper measuring 11 1/4" X 12 1/2".
