Also included are the essays he published in various journals, including "DADA and Me," in which he signaled of the end of the Dada movement, and what remains of the novel he had been working on at the end of his life, Lamprido, based on the characters of himself and his good friend Carl Einstein.Clement Pansaers (18851922) turned to poetry after abandoning his career as an Egyptologist. Despite his early death from Hodgkin's disease, his poetry is now recognized as some of the most radical of the Dada movement. Il aurait aussi publié quelques nouvelles en néerlandais, sous le pseudonyme de Julius Krekel. *** Bien que Clément Pansaers soit souvent considéré comme le principal représentant du mouvement Dada en Belgique, cette image est fausse. Il n'a aucunement représenté Dada dans son pays natal qu'il a fui pour intégrer le groupe Dada à Paris et lier en outre amitié avec James Joyce ou Ezra Pound mais ces relations furent sans lendemain en raison de son décès en 1922. Les chercheurs actuels tendent à mettre l'accent sur la singularité de son uvre, à l'instar de Jean-Pierre Longre, qui le définit ainsi : "avant-gardisme mais pas tout à fait, dadaïsme mais sans l'influence de Tzara qu'il connaîtra après avoir écrit beaucoup de ses textes, avant de contribuer à la disparition du mouvement et de disparaître lui-même prématurément, originalité fondée sur la liberté et la lucidité". *** De fait, Clément Pansaers n'a pas vraiment revendiqué l'étiquette Dada. Ses textes recèlent toutefois un génie inventif qui a contribué à irriguer ce mouvement luxuriant. ***.
