Für meine Forschung im Sahartara VDC im Distrikt Dolpa habe ich eine gemischte Forschungsmethode (Umfrage und Ethnografie) verwendet. Der Mann-Kendal-Test bestätigte, dass die Niederschlagsmenge in diesem Gebiet von 1984 bis 2012 um 1,254 mm pro Jahr zurückgegangen ist, während die Mindesttemperatur von 1991 bis 2013 gestiegen und die Höchsttemperatur gesunken ist, was ein Zeichen für eine Veränderung der Klimavariabilität ist. Darüber hinaus haben die Menschen seit einem Jahrzehnt einen allmählichen Temperaturanstieg erlebt und sind im gleichen Zeitraum mit unregelmäßigen und beispiellosen Niederschlägen konfrontiert. Ihre traditionellen Methoden der Terrassenlandwirtschaft, der Tierhaltung, der Vermeidung von chemischen Düngemitteln und Pestiziden, der Belassung von Ernterückständen und der Brachlegung von Flächen helfen ihnen, das Land vor Erosion und Erdrutschen zu schützen und die Bodenfruchtbarkeit zu erhalten. Praktiken wie die Steuerung des Erntezeitpunkts, die Auswahl widerstandsfähigerer Pflanzen, Fruchtfolge und Mischkulturen helfen ihnen, die Ernährungsunsicherheit zu bekämpfen.

I primarily examined (i) the perceptions of rural farmer about climate change and (ii) the role of ITK in adapting to th…e impacts of climate change. To carry out my research at Sahartara VDC of Dolpa district, I have used mixed research method (Survey and Ethnography). Mann Kendal Test verified that rainfall of the area has been decreased by 1.254 mm every year from 1984-2012 while minimum temperature is increasing and maximum Temperature is decreasing from 1991 to 2013, which is a sign of change in climate variability. Moreover, people have experienced gradual rise in temperature for a decade and facing erratic and unprecedented rainfall over same period. Their traditional methods of terrace farming, animal husbandry, avoiding chemical fertilizer and pesticides, leaving crop residue and fallow land is aiding them to protect land from erosion and landslide along with maintaining soil fertility. Practices such as managing crop timing, selection of the more resilient crops, crop rotation, and intercropping is helping them to fight against the food insecurity. 240 pp. Englisch.

Nepal's share in climate change is negligibly small; it is responsib…le for only about 0.025% of annual green house gases emissions. However different extreme event's cases brought by the changes in climatic conditions have been recorded from different parts of the country. Hence to observe and document the impacts brought by the extreme events I visited one of the national park of Nepal which falls in Himalayan region namely Langtang National Park from March 20 to 28 in 2009. The study reveals that there are many evidences showing the impacts of climate change through the occurrence of extreme events. Especially Biodiversity and water resources are more vulnerable and especially the agriculture and tourism based industries are in the great threat. However the local people have not been adapting the change brought by climate.
