To a "maître et ami" about a collaboration on the "Collection des Petits Livres de chevet" which for Florian-Parmentier would have to find contributors. Furthermore, he details his losses and injuries during the War: harmed by gas, he went through three agonies; his parents w…ere killed by an English torpedo, and his brother-in-law went blind: "Après 50 mois de front, je suis entré à l'hôpital, pris de gaz. Trois agonies. Un an de souffrances et de quasi-anéantissements. Et chez moi, un pays envahi, mon père et ma Mère tués par une torpille anglaise [.]" (19 March 1920). - A letter of thanks for a contribution, lamenting his freelance honorarium of a mere 250 francs for a work for Figuière: "La vie et dure. Je gagne 250 frs. chez Figuière, après tout ce que j'ai fait, et l'âge atteint de 41 ans. Quelle misère que celle des Gens de Lettres sans compromission! [.]" (21 April 1920). - Florian-Parmetier's hope for contributions by L. Descaves, E. Bourges and G. Geffroy was in vain. He is vexed by critics of his literary work, his hard-earned livelihood (the writer, he says, is "starved" or "assassinated"), and an uncertain investment of 15,000 francs: "Alors il est permis de laisser crever de faim, ou disons mieux, d'assassiner un écrivain à que on reconnait un pareil talent? [.] Pendant quinze ans, j'ai reçu d'avoine, de pommes de terre et de légumes secs, que je fais cuire moi-même. Je ne me plains pas. Mais j'aurais enrichi bien autrement, le patrimoine littéraire, si la vie m'avait été un peu moins cruelle [.]" (9 Dec. 1920). - A cover letter for his latest work "La mort casquée", sent as a birthday present with the note that his financial situation and ill health do not allow him to attend banquets: "Ni l'état de ma santé, ni celui de ma bourse, ne me permettent d'assistes aux banquets [.]" (10 Nov. 1931). - About the play "La mort casquée", with gloomy thoughts on the human obsession with warfare ("war would end only if there were a final extinction"): "Les erreurs de l'homme portent leur châtiment. La guerre 'ne pouvait pas' finir? Eh bien, maintenant, nous voilà servis: elle ne finira plus jusqu'à l'extinction finale. L'homme est un enfant touche-à-tout et insupportable [.] La machine bouleversera l'ordre social, puis achèvera dans la démence d'une guerre industrielle mondiale la ruine de l'humanité [.]" (10 Dec. 1931). - Two letters with letterhead "Eugène Figuière et C.ie" and another "Gastein-Serge Éditeur".
