Neuware - Despite its unusual form - a structure with two sections, each comprising two movements that are to be played without interruption - this work from 1875 enjoyed great success from the start. In its balanced proportion of solo part to orchestra, it corresponds almost perfectly to the model o…f the 'symphonic concerto' and numbers among the most popular concerti by this French composer. For the first edition of 1877, no less a figure than Gabriel Fauré undertook the piano transcription of the orchestral part - an optimal basis for Johannes Umbreit's piano reduction for the first Urtext edition ever of this work. As for the Piano Concerti no. 2 and no. 5 already issued by Henle, Pascal Rogé, one of the greatest experts on Saint-Saëns' piano works, also provided the fingerings for this edition.; Malgré sa forme inhabituelle - une disposition en deux parties, comprenant chacune deux mouvements à enchaîner sans interruption -, cette oeuvre datant de 1875 fut accueillie dès le début avec un grand succès. Avec son équilibre parfait entre la partie soliste et l'orchestre, ce concerto correspond d'une manière véritablement idéale au modèle du «concert symphonique» et fait partie des concertos les plus populaires du compositeur français. Gabriel Fauré lui-même a réalisé l'arrangement pour piano de la partie d'orchestre de la première édition parue en 1877 - une base optimale pour la réalisation par Johannes Umbreit de cette réduction pour piano de cette première édition Urtext de l'oeuvre. De même que pour les Concertos pour piano et orchestre n° 2 et n° 5, déjà parus chez Henle, c'est également ici Pascal Rogé, l'un des meilleurs connaisseurs de l'oeuvre pianistique de Saint-Saëns, qui assume la responsabilité des doigtés.; Trotz seiner ungewöhnlichen Form - einer Anlage in zwei Teilen, die je zwei unterbrechungslos zu spielende Sätze umfassen - hatte das 1875 entstandene Werk von Anfang an großen Erfolg. In seinem ausgewogenen Verhältnis von Solopartie und Orchester entspricht es auf geradezu ideale Weise dem Modell des 'symphonischen Konzerts' und gehört zu den beliebtesten Konzerten des französischen Komponisten. Für die 1877 erschienene Erstausgabe übernahm kein Geringerer als Gabriel Fauré die Bearbeitung des Orchesterparts für Klavier - eine optimale Basis für Johannes Umbreits Einrichtung des Klavierauszugs dieser ersten Urtextausgabe des Werks überhaupt. Wie für die bei Henle bereits erschienenen Klavierkonzerte Nr. 2 und Nr. 5 zeichnet auch hier Pascal Rogé, einer der besten Kenner von Saint-Saëns' pianistischem _uvre, für den Fingersatz verantwortlich.
