Benyowsky claims to have landed on the Alaskan mainland. Included is an account of his unsuccessful attempt to establish a French colony in Madagascar. Benyowsky was shot by the French in May 1786 at Foule Point on Madagascar when he attempted to take over the colony. The maps and plates were omitted in the Irish edition.
