Lo scrittore non si sottrae a nessuna esperienza e così l'Egitto vien fuori in tutta la sua immediatezza e l'esotico si mescola alla vita quotidiana. Questa edizione, la più completa finora apparsa in Italia, restituisce al lettore un libro che sta alla pari con i capolavori dello scrittore francese ed è introdotto da Emanuele Trevi, accompagnato dalle illustrazioni di Nathalie Du Pasquier.
