End papers of marbled paper in the peacock design. Pages browning with age especially to edge but clean and very readable. Top, Bottom and fore edges dyed metallic with some scratches noted. Most of the stories in this collection are reprints of the original versions. These are the stories O. Henry's public read at the time they were first issued, the stories he first composed, as fresh today as they were then. In this collection the stories are arranged in chronological order of publication. The reader should thus be able to get a sense of the development of O. Henry's style, from his early, raw sketches of the Texas days to the polished, full-length stories of his later years in New York.
