The stories explain the formation of the landscape, the creation of animals, plants, and natural features, and the moral and spiritual laws that govern life. Where possible, the narratives are presented in both English and the original Indigenous languages. All stories are accompanied by linguistic notes, phonetic explanations and word lists. The volume features colour photographs by contemporary Victorian Aboriginal artists.
