Interfunktionen, an art journal which published 12 issues between 1968 and 1975 in Cologne, was founded in 1968 as a form of protest by artists who had no affinity with the critical lines that were redrawn at Documenta that year. The review was… of considerable importance as a vehicle for propagating pro-European ideas and as a union between artists in Europe and the United States, irrespective of the predominating movements of the time. It contained both theoretical and practical contributions, with the intervention of creators who defined and illustrated their artistic strategies. Directly linked to the most prominent figures in the Düsseldorf Kunstacademie, such as Joseph Beuys, Jorg Immendorf and Sigmar Polke, it also boasted the involvement of the most spirited and reflexive artists of the times, from Vito Acconci and Marcel Broodthaers to Bruce Nauman and Dieter Roth. Interfunktionen, as its name indicates, was an inter-disciplinary publication, open to all artistic genres and with no restrictions as to media. This book is produced in collaboration with Fritz Heubach, the review's first editor, and depicts the experience of those years by means of original documents--some of them hitherto unpublished--artworks, and artists' writings.

Eins von 50 nummerierten Exemplaren, datiert 1986. Paul Sharits, geboren am 7. 2. 1943 in Denver, Colorado, gestorben am 8. 7. 1993 in Buffalo, New York, wurde als… Visueller Künstler bekannt. Neben zahlreichen Filmen ab 1966 enstanden Zeichnungen und Gemälde sowie in geringem Maße auch Druckgrafik. Er starb offenbar an den langzeitigen Folgen einer Schußverletzung, die er sich in den späten 80er Jahren in einer Bar zugezogen hatte, 1993 zurückgezogen in Buffalo.

Artists book initiated by a group of Polish artists, following the influential exhibition 'Construction in Process' which was curated by Ryszard Wasko in Lodz in 1981. Signed and inscribed by Antoni Mikolajczyk with a dedication to Paul Panhuysen, a Dutch composer and artist who founded Het Apollohuis in Eindhoven in the 1980s, an arts space focusing in sound and free improvisation. Wasko's page is handwritten, hand drawn in pencil and signed. According to the artist Peter Lowe, who was in Lodz for the setup of the exhibition, after the final day of the installation, once the international artists had left Poland, the staff of the factory canteen were arrested by police, who accused them of being spies as they were seen with foreigners. Contributors include: Sol Lewitt, Lawrence Weiner, Taka Iimura, Tomasz Konart, Antoni Mikolajczyk,Pawel Kwiek, Kazuo Katase, Maurizio Nannucci, Fred Sandback, Les Levine, Richard Nonas, Paul Sharits, Peter Downsbrough, Aleksander Honory, Waclaw Ropiecki and many others.
