Wheeler Robinson on inspiration and revelation in the Old Testament were delivered before the University of Oxford as Speaker's Lecturer from 1942 to 1945. After his death in 1945, the last two lectures were finally revised by two colleagues. The topics are arranged in three broad parts: Manifestations of God in nature and Man and history; the inspiration of prophets (the nature of prophecy including its psychology and theological validation); and parallel prophecy via priestly oracles and the Palmists. These lead to the legislative codes of the Torah, and to the Old Testament canon, which defined early Judaism and the very beginnings of Christianity.
