This book has some wear. crease to bottom corner that extends to first few pages of text , scuffing along edges, a crease to back bottom corner as well as a small crease to that corner. The author undertook a kayak trip alone from Waterhen Lake, Saskatchewan to Pine River Settlement, to Stanley Mission to Cumberland House, Manitoba. The year was 1974 (?), though he doesn't say. He had studied the stories of the old fur-trade voyageurs from his native Czechoslovakia. The journey was plagued by moose, treacherous waters, rainstorms and MOSTLY loneliness and uncertainty. There was a major interruption, but you'll READ about that. SPINE fine, binding tight, colours bright. No marks, tears nor stains. EXCELLENT reading copy. Almost giftable . Quote (p. 46) : " The river swirled and tugged on shredded branches. Then I was sudenly among the high sweepers, sucked towards the rapids. It was impossible to return against the current, so I desparately tried to land.
