Périé de ses voyages et missions dans la Péninsule Indochinoise, essentiellement sur son long séjour à Singapour."PÉRIÉ, Augustin, né le…14 août 1832 à Saint-Chamarand (Lot), était chez les Frères des Ecoles chrétiennes à Cahors, quand le vicaire apostolique de la Mandchourie, Verrolles, prêcha dans cette ville en 1846. En entendant ce sermon, l'enfant sentit le désir de se consacrer aux missions. Il fit ses études au petit séminaire de Montfaucon, puis entra, encore laïque, au Séminaire des M.-E. le 4 octobre 1856. D'après nos registres, il fut ordonné prêtre le 18 juin 1859, et partit le 10 juillet suivant, quoique lui-même, dans son ouvrage : Souvenirs de Malaisie (1re édit., pp. 35 et 38), indique le 22 mai et le 10 juin comme dates de son ordination et de son départ. Il s'embarqua pour la mission de la Presqu'île de Malacca. Il fut envoyé d'abord dans la chrétienté de Matang Tinggi, puis à Batu Kawan, et en 1860 à Bukit Timah, où il construisit le presbytère en 1862. Cette année-là, il fonda la station de Boukou-kanka, et y éleva une chapelle dont la bénédiction, qui eut lieu le 8 septembre, fut accompagnée du baptême de 16 Chinois. Il établit une confrérie de Saint-Joseph pour la Bonne Mort ; il s'occupa de l'évangélisation des Mantras, installa dans le royaume de Johore deux chrétientés : Pountien en 1863, et Ayer Itam vers 1867 ; dans chacune d'elles il construisit une chapelle. En 1868, il retourna à son ancien poste de Bukit Timah. Revenu malade en France en 1870, il exerça le saint ministère dans son diocèse, à Terry, commune de Pern, dont il fut nommé curé en 1871. Il quitta la Société en 1872. Cette même année, il devint chapelain de Roc-Amadour, et en 1874 curé du Roc. Il mourut dans cette paroisse, le 16 janvier 1892." (source Missions Etrangères).
