One of four books in this publisher's "Inglenook" series, designed to "build character while they entertain" while upholding the goal that "only the beautiful should be given to children of every age." In 79 pages, with endpapers, title page, & 10 full color plates, along wi…th pen-&-ink drawings, by John ("Jack") Perkins. A FIRST EDITION, unknown printing, from 1929, this small hardcover (6.25" x 8.25") is in Good condition: generally clean with the random spot or smudge. Pages white & unmarked, colors bright; ffep has been excised. Stitched binding is secure, but starting to loosen at bottom, with some pages nearly detached near spine at bottom 1"-2" or so. All plates are present & clean. very clean, binding strong & straight, hinges secure, pages creamy white & completely unmarked save for those previously noted additions to half-title page. Moderate rubbing to extremities, heavy at all corners & both ends of spine, with some paper loss here & in a few small places along spine itself. No DJ. Our photos depict the Exact book you will receive, never "stock" images of books we don't actually Light brown cloth-covered boards decorated & lettered in bright gilt to front; gilt spine lettering has faded significantly, along with a heavily rubbed circular area above title & heavy rubbing to both head & tail of spine & all corners.
