The first, from 1960, covers rhetorical framing, committee meeting dynamics, visual aids and tactics for gaining executive approval. The second, from 1961, sets out methods for filtering daily news, scanning trade journals and managing information intake. Two-color green and monochrome line illustrations run through the text of both booklets. The first booklet works through organizing spoken remarks and holding attention in a conference room; the second works through building personal reference files and screening specialized reports. In-house editorial staff and business consultants at Nelson Doubleday wrote the series. The two booklets record early 1960s American corporate managerial culture and post-war self-improvement publishing.
