Berner Heimatschutz Im Rahmen des Europäischen Jahres für Denkmal- - pflege und Heimatschutz 1975 hat der «Berner Heimatschutz» als kantonalbernische Sektion des Schweizer Heimatschutzes dieses Buch geschaffen. Dieses will weder Rechenschaftsbericht noch Kunstführer sein, sondern vom heutigen Sinn und Wesen des Berner Heimatschutzes, vor allem von der Arbeit seiner Bauberatung berichten. Stadt und Land haben sich in den letzten Jahren der Hochkonjunktur entscheidend verändert. Die stürmische Entwicklung im Baugeschehen hat vielerorts die Schranken von Massstab und Ordnung durchbrochen. Schon bereuen wir manches, was leichtfertig preisgegeben worden und biederem Unverstand zum Opfer gefallen ist. In unsern Nachbarländern ist das alte, gewachsene Bild ganzer Stadtteile nach den Zerstörungen des letzten Krieges mit ungeheurem Aufwand wiederhergestellt worden. Abgesehen von der denkmalpflegerischen Leistung sind es gerade die heutigen, modernen Menschen, die nach Anlehnung an Bestandenes, Altvertrautes rufen. Wir Schweizer, die wir unbehelligt geblieben sind, geniessen das Privileg, eine unversehrte Heimat nach eigenem Ermessen gestalten oder zerstören zu können. Das Buch will anhand typischer Beispiele zeigen, was bei allseits gutem Willen getan werden kann, um überliefertes Kunstgut in die heutige Zeit hinüberretten und mit neuem Leben erfüllen zu können. Es ist, unserer regionalen Organisation entsprechend, in sechs Abschnitte ohne Jura aufgeteilt. Im Berner Jura besteht eine Organisation, die ADIJ (Association pour la defense des interets du Jura), welche die Interessen des Heimatschutzes wahrnimmt. Aus diesem Grund enthält das Buch keine Objekte aus dem Jura.
