Man sollte also meine, es wäre dem Auge des Betrachters nichts entgangen, dennoch sind einige Details bei wissenschaftlichen Untersuchungen weitgehend unbeachtet geblieben. Zu diesen zählen die Ritzverzierungen an den Gewandsäumen der dargestellten Figuren sowie an verschiedenen Antiquaria. In dieser Arbeit werden zunächst die Einzelmotive der Ritzverzierungen mittels einer stilistisch-typologischen Analyse herausgestellt, ikonographisch eingeordnet und anschließend ihre Genese erörtert. Die Typen und die aus der Kombination unterschiedlicher Motive gebildeten Szenen geben über den Motivschatz der Ritzverzierungen Auskunft. 194 pp. Deutsch.

Die so abgegrenzten Motive und Szenen werden anschließend auf ihre Verteilung sowohl in den Räumen als auch bei den dargestellten Personen hin untersucht, mit dem Ziel, Einblick in stilistische Unterschiede zwischen verschiedenen Räumen oder Personen zu gewinnen, mögliche Handwerkerdukti herauszuarbeiten, Aussagen über das ikonographische Repertoire zu treffen und bestimmte Motive auf einen bestimmten Personenkreis oder einen szenischen Kontext einzuengen. Die stilistische und ikonographische Gesamtbewertung des Motivschatzes zeigt ein Zusammenspiel der Repertoires der Kleinkunst (wie z. B. der Elfenbeinschnitzerei, der Glyptik, der Toreutik), aber auch der Großkunst mit den Orthostatenreliefs und Wandmalereien. Somit lassen sich die Motivelemente in den von den Assyrern aus älteren Zeiten und anderen Regionen entlehnten und eigenständig weiterentwickelten Formenkreis im angehenden ersten Jahrtausend v.u.Z. einordnen.
