Hardback. Condizione: New. "Girls, Gags and Giggles," ran publisher Robert Harrison's recipe for dishing up pin-up to the American male. Men loved his tasty dishes, a mixture of strippers and starlets dressed in outfits so fetishistic no one noticed they were never nude. While other magazines delivered the girl next door, Harrison's publications banked on bad girls in satin and leather, fishnet stockings, and six-inch heels performing slapstick stunts straight from the burlesque stage. Harrison lured his readers in with vibrantly painted covers by top pin-up artists Earl Moran, Billy DeVorss and, most famously, Peter Driben. This Bibliotheca Universalis edition celebrates this eye-catching candy with every single cover from Beauty Parade, Wink, Titter, Eyeful, Flirt, and Whisper, from 1942 to 1955, as well as interior spreads, featuring, among others, a budding Bettie Page. In an age when far more graphic material is the norm, 1000 Pin-Up Girls celebrates an era of pin-up and pulp style to fuel your erotic imagination.

Aggiungi al carrelloBuch. Condizione: Neu.

Wrappers. Condizione: Very Good Plus. Driben, Peter (illustratore). First Edition. Dover, DE: D.M. Publishing Co., Inc., 1938. First edition. February, 1938 issue of "Bedtime Stories". Cover art by Peter Driben, interior art largely uncredited except for cartoons by R.C. Dell. Nude photographs; over 18 sale only. Illustrated wraps, 10" x 7", 64 pp. Bright and very well preserved. A few small spots of soil toward top of cover (see scan), light soil shadow on rear cover, otherwise really not much to point out for flaws. An exceptional example of the early pin-up / girlie pulp genre. Very good plus, maybe a bit better. Graced by a rare early Peter Driben cover, this is a scarce issue of a scarce title in a scarce genre, and is remarkably well-preserved. Unlike its sister publications of the era, the nude photographs in Bedtime Stories were not all in one central section; herein, they are scattered throughout, soft by current standards, as is the erotic fiction, somewhat off-clor jokes, and cartoons. Except for Dell's cartoons, the interior art accompanying stories and humor is uncredited, but often really rather well done, with art deco or flapper-esque appeal. Stories - almost certainly by pseudonymic authors, except for the notable Robert Leslie Bellem - include: "One Last Fling" (Mason Johns); "Beauty's Bait" (Paul Terry); "Hero By Proxy" (Claire Kennedy); "New Love For Connie" (Tome Kane); "Man Wanted!" (Don King); "Hollywood Madness" (Robert Leslie Bellem); "Birthday Present!" (Otto Nelson); "Suzanne's Dilemma" (Grace Bennett); and "He Got His Story!" (Cliff Carruth). Classic example of the genre. - Jeff Harvey L100.
