Aggiungi al carrelloCondizione: Sehr gut. Stapled photocopies, 41 plus 43 pages, each with the 2 illustrations, very good condition. The copy of the 43 page edition is slightly enlarged and probably almost contemporary, very clean and professionally made. Tharchin printed 250 copies of this book before Prince Peter proofread it and dismantled afterwards the type. The Prince was quite furious about it as can be inferred from a letter sent by him in August 1954 to Tharchin. Fader, in his biography of Tharchin, A True Son of Tibet, quotes this letter in full (compare vol. III, p. 675). According to this the prince allowed Tharchin to sell the defective copies himself but asked to be provided with further 250 copies in corrected form, which were published on 10 November 1954. Tharchin had to set the type new so these two versions are actually separate publications. The alternative edition has 43 pages because of the different typesetting. According to Fader this present, 41 page edition is the final one. Comparing them this is not evident for us. E.g. the note by the author about transcription used by him on p. 8 in the 43 page edition is printed in our point of view clearer than in the 41 page edition (there on p. 7). Both editions are rare. Despite his announcement in the mentioned letter, the Prince seems to distrubuted very few copies to libraries (or they were not appreciative). We find copies of the 41 page edition at University of Bonn, Regensburg, Berlin, Oxford University and Canberra and copies of the 43 page edition at Copenhagen, Tibet Institut Rikon, Leiden, University of California, Seattle and Columbia University only.
