Propriétaire du Château de Rosny -dès 1818-, Marie-Caroline de Bourbon (Duchesse du Berry, 1798-1870) mécène des arts et épouse du Duc de Berry n'a cessé de se passionner pour la littérature et ce qui s'y rapporte au point de rassembler l'une des plus fabuleuses bibliothèques de l'époque : 8000 volumes pour la plupart reliés par René Simier (1772-1843) -relieur de l'impératrice Marie-Louise, puis de Louis XVIII et de Charles X, installé 152 rue Saint-Honoré à Paris-. La bibliothèque du Château de Rosny fut constituée avec le concours de M. Thoury et du conservateur de la Bibliothèque Mazarine, André Osmond. S'y côtoyaient manuscrits, livres de science et de botanique, des ouvrages d'histoire, de littérature française et étrangère. Après une première vente à Londres en 1831 de quelques centaines de livres, Marie-Caroline de Bourbon se sépare de sa bibliothèque de Rosny 6 ans plus tard en 1837. Philippe-Jacques de Laroche (dit Hubert, 1765-1837) est un dramaturge dont les pièces ont été représentées sur les plus grandes scènes parisiennes. Traces d'auréoles bas de pages (vol1), rares rousseurs, coins lég émoussés, exemplaires en très bonne condition.
