ANNES." Published by W. A. & S. S. as entry No. 565 in their regionally popular and highly collectible "Grosvenor" Series. HISTORICAL IMAGERY: An exceptional social and architectural archive of the Fylde coast. The foreground captures an authentic slice of turn-of-the-century vernacular life, showing women in full-length trailing skirts and children in traditional pinafores with holiday sunhats wading and fishing in the shallow ocean surf. Sweeping across the background is a complete, detailed architectural profile of the historic St Annes Pier, highlighting its elaborate Victorian ironwork pavilions and promenades. POSTAL HISTORY & MANUSCRIPT CONTENT: This copy is postally used and features a beautifully legible, dense hand-written message in dark fountain pen ink. Dated by the sender "29.9.07" (September 29, 1907), the letter captures the tail end of a British summer holiday: "Thank you so much for nice letter which I found here when we returned from Black pool. had a delightful time. The weather was perfect. Went to see 'Miss Hook of Holland' Thursday night. water very sad. On Friday. Love to all. M." The card features an intact green King Edward VII Half-Penny stamp cleanly tied to the cardstock by a bold, dark circular duplex postmark reading "WIGAN / 9:15 PM / SP 29 / 07". Hand-addressed to a Miss Lily Friar at Lynn House, St. Annes, Thatto Heath, St. Helens. CONDITION: Very Good antique condition. The real photo print on the front remains strong and texturally smooth, boasting rich sepia contrast and fine detail across the pier structure and figures. Cardstock is firm and flat with straight borders and only minor, standard corner tip rubbing from historic album placement. The reverse face is beautifully preserved; the vertical Grosvenor publisher text, stamp, and Wigan cancel are bold and unfaded, with the dense cursive script remaining entirely legible. Free of structural creases, tears, or modern repairs. Paper Back. Condizione: Very Good. This books noticeable hole has been deliberately made by shooting it with a ".44 magnum full metal jacket" according to the publishers note on the first page. The bullet penetrated straight through every page and exited out the back cover, so if you want to see what kind of hole a bullet like that makes in a solid object, this is the book for you. The same note lists this book as No 095 of a 300 run limited edition. Other than this publishing quirk the only defect is a little shelf rubbing on the back cover. Condizione: Very Good. Columbus, OH: Baker's Art Gallery, 1894. Original large format silver gelatin photograph (52.5x40.5cm) glued down to slightly later card mount (70.5x55.5cm). Card mount toned and a bit dust soiled. The image a Very Good or better, bright example. Oversized (and sadly unattributed) artistic portrait photograph very much in the style of the pre-Raphaelites, depicting a melancholy young woman with long, flowing curly hair in a puffy white gown leaning against a crumbling decorative stone wall and chipped canvas. The photograph has fairly extensive paint touch-ups made by the studio to the woman's dress and hair, providing detail so that the photograph could be reproduced as a halftone engraving by another Columbus-based artisan, the Terry Engraving Company. An example of the Terry reproduction was featured in The Inland Printer, Vol. XIII, p. 348. While the photograph coincides with the 1894 Broadway production of "Cinderella," the woman in the photograph is not the play's star Ellaline Terriss, though she has borrowed her hair-do.…
