On ne sait si l'adresse est fictive ou réelle, mais le matériel typographique semble être hollandais. Bachaumont écrivit les premiers volumes mais ils furent édités par Pidansat de Mairobert qui poursuivit l'écriture des volumes jusqu'à sa mort en 1779, ce fut ensuite le tour de Moufle d'Angersville. La collection complète contient 36 volumes. Reliures en demi basane chocolat à coins. Dos à nerfs orné de 3 fleurons. Titre et tomaison dorés. Plats frottés. Ex libris aux armes du XIXe F. de Lagotellerie. * Chronique rétrospective de la vie des belles lettres et des beaux-arts comprenant les critiques des pièces de théâtre, des spectacles et opéra, des sorties littéraires, des anecdotes, des salons littéraires et de peinture et de nombreuses pièces inédites en vers qui en font un recueil recherché. Les mémoires secrets contiennent plus de 10000 notices étendues sur 14 années ; de par sa fécondité, ils constituent une des sources les plus abondantes et précieuses pour l'histoire du XVIIIe siècle. C'est un des périodiques ayant eu la plus grande longévité et le plus grand succès, grâce à une politique publicitaire adéquate. Avant d'être recueilli sous forme de journal, il s'agissait de notes prises dans les salons par Bachaumont. It is known that the first volumes 1 to 8 appeared in 1777, then the rest staggered until 1789. This edition does not contain Bachaumont's name on the title page, unlike the original. Bachaumont wrote the first volumes but they were edited by Pidansat de Mairobert who continued writing the volumes until his death in 1779, then it was Moufle d'Angersville's turn. The secret memoirs contain more than 10,000 extensive notices over 14 years; through their abundance, they form one of the most copious and precious sources for 18th-century history. This is one of the periodicals with the greatest longevity and success, thanks to adequate advertising policy. Before being collected in journal form, these were notes taken in salons by Bachaumont.
