The book will explore the connections between computational and algorithmic models of the mental lexicon, word frequency distributions and information theoretical measures of word families, statistical correlations across psycho-linguistic and cognitive evidence, principles of machine learning and integrative brain models of word storage and processing. Main goal of the book will be to map out the landscape of future research in this area, to foster the development of interdisciplinary curricula and help single-domain specialists understand and address issues and questions as they are raised in other disciplines.

L'8 settembre 1943, all'annuncio dell'Armistizio, Vito Pirrelli (1922, vivente), giovanissimo ufficiale, si trovava nei pressi di Zara (Dalmazia) con il suo reparto, il 291° Reggimento Fanteria della Divisione "Zara". Insieme al suo fedele… amico Tropeano, non condivide la decisione degli altri commilitoni di spostarsi verso il mare e tentare l'imbarco per l'Italia. Convinto che in quella direzione ci fossero già i Tedeschi pronti a catturarli, si unisce ai partigiani slavi di Tito. Fu la sua salvezza: tutti gli altri soldati del suo Reggimento vennero annientati dai Tedeschi mentre erano in marcia verso la costa. Cominciò per Pirrelli una nuova vita "partigiana", quasi due anni di guerriglia contro i nazifascisti nel freddo e nella fame, in mezzo alle malattie e alla morte. La figlia Marilena ne ha raccolto i ricordi in occasione del suo 99° compleanno. Ne è nato questo libro di toccante umanità che si annovera tra i migliori contributi al nostro desiderio di pace.
