They date to 1957-58, when Imam Yahya was drawing closer to Nasser's Egypt post-S…uez, and inciting tribes to revolt against the British resulting in the Aden Emergency. The photo shows Faisal II and the Regent aboard the Queen Mary bound for New York from Southampton. During the 5-week tour, Faisal met with President Truman and a host of… celebrities and sports people. He had been keen to visit the US to view major development projects including in irrigation, to see how they might benefit Iraq.
