Blind-stamped red clothe binding, 1 cm chip across top spine, three smallish black marks to front, spine faded, corners slightly bumped. xiv with large unfolding chart facing p.xiii+306+(2, pub. notice and list); white traces of label rem…oval to top brown front pastedown, a few tanning spots and very light edge-tanning throughout, slight gutter openings either side of front-end-paper, otherwise clean and tight. Apparently very scarce but cover problems render it a working/reference copy only. Extremely thorough with t.p. subt-tle explaing it is in 3 parts (Grammar, Etymological Derivations and Praxis) and contains a course of examination questions, questions proposed at the Woolwich Competitive Examinations 1854-1869, and papers set at Oxford and Cambridge local examinations for seven years. Sold not subject to return. 12 cm x 18.5 cm.
