Une armée victorieuse d'Anglais et de Prussiens est aux portes de Paris [APRÉS LA DEFAITE DE WATERLOO, L'AVANT GARDE DE BLÜCHER ATTEINT ENFIN LA PÉRIPHERIE DE PARIS , LE 29 JUIN]. Les débris de la notre occupent les hauteurs fortifiées dans les mêmes positions ou fut livrée la dernière bataille l'année dernière. Peut être dans une heure, les boulets, les bombes, les obus pleuvront sur nous et chacun, dans cet immense cloaque de la Capitale va a ses affaires ou à ses plaisirs, comme si le théatre de la guerre etait à cent lieues. Il y a seulement dans les rues un peu plus de monde parce que la curiosité amène les oisifs, mais ce sentiment même est aussi calme que tous les autres. L'auteur, Pierre-François Du Plessis d'Arenberg, marquis de La Chaume, qui se dissimule sous le pseudonyme de "Pierre François Prodez de Beragrem, marquis d'Almacheu", resta emprisonné onze ans à la Bastille pour avoir facilité l'évasion du P.
