Vintage photograph of actress Pola Negri with her pet cheetah Kinna to publicize James Neilson's 1964 film "The Moon-Spinners." With a folded mimeo snipe dated 10/25/63 and the stamp of United Press International on the verso. Born in present-day Lipno, Poland, Negri made her initial film appearances in Poland and Germany in the 1910s, most notably with Ernst Lubitsch in "The Eyes of the Mummy Ma" and "Carmen" (1918), "Madame DuBerry" (1919), "One Arabian Night" (1920), "The Wildcat" (1921), and "The Flame" (1922). Her success with Lubitsch introduced Negri to American audiences, and she signed with Paramount in 1922, making her one of the first continental film stars to be imported into Hollywood. Negri was wildly successful in 1920s Hollywood, made moreso by her notorious romances with leading film actors Charlie Chaplin and Rudolph Valentino. Scandals in the US and declining popularity due to sound film precipitated Negri's return to Europe, which bankrupted the actress and forced her re-return to the US. "The Moon-Spinners" was Negri's final film appearance. 8 x 10 inches. Very Good plus, with light wear to the corners.
