First trade edition. 46 pp, small folio (13 by 10 inches approx.), with 20 vivid and sublime color plate illustrations by Rickman, the foremost British artist of waterfowl in his day. Chapters on grouse and black game, partridges and quail, pheasant, wild turkey, woodcock and snipe, gees…and ducks, shooting in the U.K. and America. Some emphasis in the text on the preservation of species at time that toll of overhunting had become apparent. Binding tight. Only the most occasional and lightest of fox marks on otherwise luxuriant thick paper stock. Minor soilage in gutter area and trivial shelfwear in corner. Neat square in front inner fold of dust jacket cut out (price removal).
