Le chanoine Gabriel Pont a également été vicaire à Martigny, directeur du collège Champittet à Pully, vicaire à Lens, curé de Martigny-Bourg, puis de Trient. Il se consacre à la poésie, à lessai (philosophique, théologique et historique), à la nouvelle, au théâtre et collabore aux journaux La tribune de Lausanne et Le Matin. Sa carrière littéraire a été couronnée par de nombreux prix : il a notamment reçu quatre fois la médaille dor de lAcadémie internationale de Lutèce.
