Aggiungi al carrelloNeeds to be re-backed and thus sold as is. Second edition (as stated upon title page; first published 1889). xii, 672 pages. Hardcover: H 22.75cm x L 15.25cm. Contemporary full calf leather binding; front board only tenuously attached with spine leather separating from underlying backstrip; spine's black gilt-lettered author label intact but black gilt-lettered title label near head mostly missing (only the left quarter still present). Front free endpaper and front flyleaf detached and now laid-in; both leaves worn along their fore-edges with pencil signatures and writing of past owner on ffep; foxing and some occasional staining to interior leaves; pencil and ink writing on rear endpapers. Rear hinge shaken but text block itself (other than the aforementioned first two prelims) remains firm. Book now presented in a trimmed clear Dura-Lar (polyester film) sheet forming a dj which aids the securing the boards and modestly enhances the book's compromised shelf appearance. A classic Texiana title which has been reprinted numerous times. The first printing is particularly scarce with this second printing more readily available in the trade but nonetheless quite uncommon as well.
