PROVENIENZ: Dublette der Stiftsbibliothek Einsiedeln (Etikette d. Abt. Ordengeschichte u. Stempel) - Diese zahlreichen kleinen, unter dem Sammelbegriff 'Einsiedlerchronik' bezeichneten 'Geschichten' und 'Beschreibungen', wurden i.d.R. nachträglich von verschiedenen Patres vereinzelt unter ihrem Namen, meist aber anonym nach früheren Versionen bearbeitet. Solche "Fest- und Gelegenheitsschriftchen [.] gehen oft reissend schnell ab, und erscheinen auch nicht im Buchhandel" (P. Gall Morel, in Gfd. 13/1857, p. 194). Verbindlich bibliographiert ist diese Kategorie nur teilweise u. zuverlässige Angaben sind eher selten möglich. - Ad 1: Professbuch/Chroniken, nennt P. Adelrich Dieziger als Bearbeiter (nicht in PB 602, Dieziger/Bibliogr.). Ansichten mit französ. Bezeichnung (Sujets u.a.: Kloster von Westen bzw. Osten, St. Meinrad vor der Klause, Meinradskapelle auf dem Etzel, Gnadenkapelle im Kirchenraum, 'Le couvent des Religieuses près du Bourg', i.e. Frauenkloster in der Au, vor dem Kirchenneubau 1879) - Titel in dieser Form erstmals 1861 (90 SS.) / Ad. 2.: Morel/Gfd. Nr. 55; Barth 19303. Morel verweist auf die Ausgabe von 1820 (M. Nr. 48; 90 SS.) und merkt an "wie Nro. 48, ohne die Betrachtungen und Gebete". Der Inhalt ist mehr pragmatisch gehalten v.a. für den Bedarf als Souvenir oder Fremdenführer - Lithogr. Titel von A. Forster; Tafeln: Kloster v. SSW u. Häuserpartie an der Ilgenweidstrasse (Forster); Gnadenkapelle von Forster nach M. [Joseph Meinrad] Kälin; Rückendeckel: Blick v. Norden auf das Frauenkloster in der Au (ebenso) / Ad 3: Autor/Bearbeiter nach einer Karteikarte der Stiftsbibliothek Einsiedeln (Aufl. mit Datum 1883 nur in swissbib, OPAC SBN: IT\ICCU\RMR\0106237, u. VK Schweden, onr:3009519). Das Vorwort ist datiert 'Monte Cassino, il giorno della nativ. di S. Giov. Batt. 1882' (San Giovanni Battista: Johannistag: 24. Juni). Nicht in PB/Chroniken und nicht bei P. Heinrich v. Rickenbach (1831-1911; PB Nr. 507). P. Heinrich war 1877-85 u.ö. Professor in Monte Cassino (PB). Er trat zudem um 1880 ff. als Autor/Bearbeiter der traditionellen 'Geschichte des Klosters und der Wallfahrt' in Erscheinung (Bibliogr. Nr. 13 f.), was seine Beteiligung an der 'Descrizione' plausibel erscheinen lässt. Eine spätere, anonyme Ausgabe 'Descrizione della badia e del pellegrinaggio' (1908, 132 SS.) stimmt weitgehend mit der vorliegenden Version überein u. wird gelegentlich P. Odilo Ringholz zugeschrieben (vgl. swissbib), ist jedoch vermutlich in Zusammenarbeit mit P. Albert Kuhn auf Grundlage einer frühere.
