Comment a été dessinée à l'époque révolutionnaire la carte judiciaire de la France moderne et quels débats a-t-elle suscités tout au long du XIXe et du XXe siècle ? Autant de questions qui sont abordées par une dizaine de contributions, accompagnées d'une cartographie originale, avec une attention particulière portée aux juridictions méridionales et à Toulouse, véritable capitale judiciaire. Aujourd'hui, les changements démographiques, sociologiques, juridiques ainsi que les nouvelles technologies de communication qui transforment et même annihilent les territoires judiciaires, bousculent aussi les moyens affectés à l'oeuvre de justice. Qu'en est-il des lieux où elle est traditionnellement rendue ?
