ONE: ACS ('R Power'). 29 Devonshire Street, London. No date. In pencil (as Item Two). Addressed to 'Mrs B. I Magraw | Ash | Canterbury'. In fair condition (as Item Two), lightly aged and worn. Begins, on the subject of a proposed children's script for BBC radio: 'Will you go ahead with Akbar? I am in a nursing Home pro. Tem small sudden operation septic tonsils & will be incapacitated for a fortnight.' She reassures her about the script: 'I know you'll do a good job. Working on these things one after another is always a bit wearisome but you're full of ideas.' Ends: 'I've found some nice pictures of Akbar in the Vic & Albert.' TWO: ACS ('Rhoda Power'). Again no date and address as Item One. She thanks her for 'the lovely little rose tree I lie & look at it'. She reports that her health is improving: 'I can't do any work so I am having an orgy of reading & have just finished The Bride (Margaret Irwin)'. She hopes that Magraw's 'books are doing well, & that Akbar is not being tiresome.' Ends: 'There's plenty of time so don't get worried.' THREE: TLS ('Rhoda Power'). On letterhead of the British Broadcasting Corporation, Bristol; 24 June 1940. 1p., 4to. Aged and creased. Reads: 'We owe you an apology for not using your script on the Christ of the Andes after you had taken so much trouble. The last minute capitulation of France made us feel that we ought to tell the children that defeat in battle does not necessarily mean the end of France. | We are keeping your script so that we can use it another time.'.
