Early on he dealt with themes that were later taken up by other artists. He builds creative bridges across urban centers and social differences between Tokyo, New York and Düsseldorf. His photographs, videos, drawings, objects as well as performances, actions and interventions in public space are reduced in aesthetics and fundamentally skeptical about global patterns of commodity and cultural conformity. Everyday things, cables or clotheslines, acquire luminous symbolic power and develop critical signs of networking between individuals. The key question is how people shape the future and what role communication plays in it./ Jarg Geismar (Jg. 1958 in Burgsvik, Schweden) überrascht in seinem Schaffen immer wieder durch neue Perspektiven. Schon früh beschäftigte er sich mit Themen, die später von anderen Künstlern aufgegriffen wurden. Zwischen Tokio, New York und Düsseldorf schlägt er schöpferische Brücken über urbane Zentren und gesellschaftliche Unterschiede hinweg. Sein freies Denken spiegelt sich in Arbeiten, die sich jeglicher Einordnung entziehen. Seine Fotografien, Videos, Zeichnungen, Objekte sowie Performances, Aktionen und Interventionen im öffentlichen Raum sind reduziert in der Ästhetik und grundsätzlich skeptisch gegenüber globalen Mustern der Warenförmigkeit und kulturellen Gleichschaltung. Alltägliche Dinge, Kabel oder Wäscheleinen, erlangen leuchtende Symbolkraft und entwickeln kritische Zeichen der Vernetzung zwischen Individuen. Leitend ist die Frage, wie Menschen die Zukunft gestalten und welche Rolle die Kommunikation darin spielt. Jarg Geismar (né en 1958 à Burgsvik, Suède) ne cesse de nous surprendre avec de nouvelles perspectives dans son travail. Très tôt, il aborde des thèmes qui seront ensuite repris par d'autres artistes.
