Friedrich Preller, Sohn des gleichnamigen Malers, von dem er ausgebildet worden und mit dem er u. a. auch in Rom gewesen war, war seit 1867 in Dresden ansässig und wurde 1880 Professor an der dortigen Kunstakademie. Preller, zunächst unter dem Einfluß seines Vaters, später unter dem Heinrich Drebers, malte vor allem Stimmungslandschaften" (DBE). Papierbedingt leicht gebräunt und mit einem kleinen Randeinriß.
