Kodaly was ne of the first people to undertake the serious study of folk tales, Kodály became one of the most significant early figures in the field of ethnomusicology…. In 1905 he visited remote villages to collect songs recording them on phonograph cylinders. In 1906 he wrote the thesis on Hungarian folk song ("Strophic Construction in Hungarian Folksong"). Around this time Kodaly met fellow composer Bela Bartok, whom he took under his wing and introduced to some of the methods involved in folk song collecting. The two became lifelong friends and champions of each other's music. (Wiki).

Aggiungi al carrelloHardcover. Condizione: Very Good. Condizione sovraccoperta: Very Good. 1st Edition. ] Stated First Edition. Hardback, 8vo, 236 pages, VG+ in VG dj (dj in new protective mylar). DJ has minor wear at spine-ends (including a 1/2" closed tear), light soil to back panel and a very light paperclip impression to top edge of front panel…. Any book imperfections are relavant to it being a presentation copy made from a prominent science and medicine reporter to a surgeon who is made mention of in the book. FFEP has a warm, friendly, informative note taped in to "Hitch" - Dr. Claude Hitchcock who is discussed in the book pages 88-89 and 220-222. Hitchcock was a surgeon in Minneapolis at the Hennepin County General Hospital (or Medical Center, nowadays at least) and was Chief of Surgery there for 33 years. The note is on Washington Post note paper and signed "Vic" next to a typed "Vic Cohn". The original Washington Post mailing label is taped to the half-title page and identifies both Dr. Hitchcock as the recipient and Victor Cohn as the sender. Cohn, very prominent in his field, had been the Science & Medicine reporter in Minneapolis for the Tribune before becoming the Science & Medicine reporter and Health columnist at the Washington Post. The pages that discuss Dr. Hitchcock have black ballpoint brackets in the margins, with a corner turned over at each location. Hitchcock had made transplant surgery history in 1963 by transplanting a kidney from a baboon into a 65-year old woman. One of the many medical applications of the hyperbaric oxygen chamber that is discussed in the book is its utilization in surgery. RWR5 Medicine Medical Writing Science Journalism Signed.
