Known for their high-quality,expensive women's apparel (their wares costing anywhere from $26 to $95), the company would also become famous for the way they treated their employees, namely allowing them a direct voting voice in all matters that affected their welfare. The business was founded in 1893 by Moritz Printz and Joseph Biederman and would prosper well into the 1970s, opening offices in New York, Boston, and Chicago and employing over a thousand workers. The company would ultimately close its doors in 1978.
