Leather. Condizione: VERY GOOD. 8vo, contemporary brown calf, raised bands over 6 gilt stamped panels with burgundy morocco label, gilt rolled board edges, text edges speckled in red. Moderate rubbing to edges with a bitt of leather lost at front head, two small Jesuit labels to front pastedown, shallow worming to the leather at tail of spine; otherwise very clean and fresh internally with sound, square binding and bright spine gilt. Table of contents written in hand to FFEP attributing the editorial compilation of this sammelband to the great late-Latin poet, Jacob Vanier, whose 48-page 1704 'Carmina' leads off the collection and includes his famous poem 'Columbae' (published previously in 1696). Additional Jesuit poets include Franc. Tarillon; Ludovico Antonio; Pulvis Pyrius; Franc. Champion; Joachim du Bellai; Jean Commire and others.
