"The Committee was moved to undertake these lectures by the very fact that there was so much question in the minds of many regarding the scientific status of psychoanalysis. If through this series the controversy over the status of psychoanalysis as a science can be partially clarified, perhaps some of the "sound and fury" surrounding psychoanalysis may be quieted and more dispassionate objective attitudes adopted." Boards are slightly grimed and show rubbing at upper and lower backstrap; text is strong and clean, but coloring to mid-margins.
